Current Mood: apathetic apathetic
I'm fired.

Yay. Did I mention I'm fucked if I can't find a job in the next week?

And I'll probably loose the job at the staffing place too, from the sounds of it. Why hire anyone out who has a record of getting upset at other employee's when their rude.

Yay. Where are -my- check fairies.

Got any need for programmers where you're at? :) I can come make your job even -more- boring!

Unfortunately, not at the moment, especially with the new hire.

Man, you have my sympathies. *pet pet* I dunno how you feel about DC but Bill's company is still in desperate need of IT people.

I'm all over it like...why is it all those metaphors involve icky things. ;)

Can you send me the link, and information? I'm going to seriously look into it. =)

All the cool kids move East. :)

I just emailed the info to you to your Yahoo account. Let me know if I need to send it elsewhere.

I'm not privvy to whatever potentiality is being mentioned here, but honestly, given your field, this is definitely a move worth looking into. While I hate the idea of drawing more people in the industry here (bloody competition! *shakes fist*), speaking strictly in terms of your interests, you'll have a much better time finding a job down here than in a college town in the midwest somewhere. The Dulles corridor and the DC metro region are easily one of the healthiest tech markets in the country. You may not find a programmer position, but you should be able to come up with something at least in the right industry that will count as experience to land you a better one down the road.

Your biggest obstacle is the cost of living and actually relocating. There's not a company in the area that'll pay you to relocate unless you've got a ton of specialized experience and an active TS security clearance. If you've got someone you can live with for a few months , that's your best bet. A place to sleep and store stuff and have mail sent to is all you really need.

None of this is especially helpful. Sadly, I took myself out of the market long enough back that I can't really offer leads or suggestions (well, beyond mentioning that dice.com is the only job site I get regular calls from, and maybe some generalize resume suggestions). The best I can do is steer you clear of bad neighborhoods when it comes time to find a home.

Still, it never hurts to babble...

Never hurts. *idly wonders why someone who has never had a goverment job would have a sec. clearance anyways* ;)

You can get em for lots of things. Gov't contracting companies, military service... hell, get a job at an airport. You won't get TS, but you can get something, which makes you more attractive to desperate contracting companies who need to fill a slot but don't want to try to certify someone from scratch.

If it makes you feel better, not every place will fire you if you loose yer temper. Just the sucky ones.

hugs lots

And it's not so bleak as that, sugar. It just feels like it. If you go in for an interview, and someone asks why you didn't want that employer contacted, tell them the truth. :P Tell them that he let his employees be rude and obnoxious to each other and you would prefer not subjecting a new employer to that slant. Or you can let 'em contact them and take yer chances.

Joe actually got lucky (yes, he got fired for the same thing) in that his boss is so afraid of getting sued for slander that he won't say anything bad about ex-employees, even if he fired 'em.

Oh, I knew the place wasn't great as far as that goes. :)

Just sucks that I lost a job that I've had for a while, etc.

And that's a good way to put that...I was thinking about how I was going to tell future people who ask, etc, about why I got fired. :) So thank you, your way is infinitely better than the two I had.

Wee. Sharing experiences is fun! Or something. *grins*

On the plus side, in spite of being financially crunched for a few months, the job he's got now is infinately better than the one he *had*. So.. look at it as a potential for growth. Or some other spirital bs. *giggle*

And yer welcome :)
