Timeline anyone?

So. I was curious about something, so I went looking for a decent Star Wars timeline.

What I found: http://www.starwarsfanworks.com/timeline/

Appendix: 183 pages. Relatively quick reading, honestly, if you're just perusing. I learned some things I didn't know, not that this surprises me. Mostly about Lucas' rampant editing of his own films. The 'original' synopsis of Star Wars for example, blew my f* mind. The primer on the Star Wars Universe is really good, imo.

Timeline: 1108 pages -> It's. Uh. Very thorough. Impressively so, really.

A few posts ago I talked about Star Trek briefly, calling it 'real' sci-fi. I think the big difference, and the reason I prefer Star Wars to Star Trek, is that (again, IMO) Star Trek deals with society, technology..the 'big' picture. Star Wars is much more personal. It focuses on the people in the universe. One might even say the heroes. Their foibles, their journeys, their loves, their friends and companions...the one 'shared' concern both have is the idea of government, or more tangentially, 'culture' of a space faring, multispecies (though Star Wars at least tries, even through human-centric view, to deal with non-human and thence truly alien motivation) culture.

I dunno if that makes sense, perse. But there it is. My bias to the personal, rather than to the abstract. Even if they exist with each other. Maybe that's why I enjoyed Chapterhouse so much. (dune book 4).

Of course, a lot of this has to do with the authors, so I thank them. :)
