5.4, about ~260 miles from here. I've had fun wasting time looking at the earthquake website, actually (and google maps!). Neat to see earthquake 'trends' which are obviously hotspots. Didn't know the 'tail' of Alaska was quite so prone actually.

I was trying to figure out what it was at home. I was in the bathroom! I had enough time to finish washing my hands and then look out the window at the street, wondering if it was a freak bad storm or a loud truck or something. I was convinced I was imagining things until I got to work and Richard asked me if I felt it...

So. My very first earthquake.

I could say all kinds of things about you, beds, and aftershocks, but I'll leave the obvious comments/jokes alone :)

so now that you've survived your first earthquake, are you ready for another? Living on the New Madrid fault, if you had one, you're most likely going to have more because when it moves, it tends to move a lot for a time and then go quiet again. You should probably get anything breakable off the top shelves and counters.

Feh, i did a very good job of not going gutterlike.

I should check my little figurines on their shelf. Thanks for reminding me. The rest of it I'm not worried about.

besides, i hear the last time that particular fault when ballistic it was like an 8. summat, which would probably laugh at my poor attempts to not have things break. =)
