#1. Happy Birthday tinarobin. We don't talk much anymore, but sufficed to say, you are in my thoughts, and I wish you well on this day. One more year of your generous spirit and loving companionship cannot but help make this world a better place for the being.

#2. There is a job opening within my company, that I applied for, for a help desk technician. Not only would it be a pay raise (3 grades, but I have no idea what that correlates too), but it would be a schedule change. 7 days on, 12 hour shifts...then 7 days off. 3rd shift, but still. A week off at a stretch...:) Wish me luck.

seven on, seven off is a pretty odd schedule for a home office job. Swinging back and forth between staying awake all night for work, then the next week staying awake all day to interact with friends/family, would be pretty brutal. Like traveling back and forth across the Pacific and dealing with the jetlag every single week.

More money sounds good though - and at least you would get to interact with other folks (help desk callers?) during your "work day".

Did you apply for it because you want the help desk job specifically? ...or more because you want the schedule and the pay increase?

I wouldn't be switching schedules that much, just getting up 'early', since they all work normal times. ;P

As for the hours, that's a company thing. It makes sense due to how the dispatchers are scheduled (they work hours like that).

It's not really the work I'm looking forward to interacting with tho I suppose that wouldn't be bad...

As for why? Because I don't like my job. More money and time off with *gasp* other human beings has *got* to be a step in the right direction.
